A DNR vehicle permit is required to park on State Land.  Effective 10/1/2010 a new Recreation Passport will be available for entry to all State Parks for $11 when you renew your vehicle license plate.

Board member seats are up for vote, if you would like to run for a seat, please email us by 3/6/17 with your request.  These seats are two year terms.

We will review 2016 and discuss the future plans for the staging area and trails in 2017.  We have bridge improvement in the works, maintenance areas to identify, as well as signs & posts to update.  

We'll also discuss our event schedule for the upcoming season and hope you all can join us for the Blessing of the Horses event we will be hosting at the staging area May 6th.

Please join us for our spring workbee to get the trails in great shape for riding!!

We will meet at the Monks Rd Staging area and have snacks and drinks ready for you to grab before we break into groups and head out to the trails. Each group will have a pole saw and we'll take you out to the work areas.  Plan to stay for pizza afterwards.

Don't forget your boots, gloves and loppers.

There will be runners on the trails.  

These are great days to visit different trails.  Check our our links page for information on other area parks!  

Blessing of the Horse and Rider

The Blessing will be held at 10 am on Saturday   

Come with or without your horse, $10 for non-campers

Comedian Chris Young is scheduled to appear Friday evening 5/5 for the enjoyment of our campers. $10 to enjoy the show for non-campers


We have 15 sites available.

Get your reservations in early (no refunds).  Call 734-878-2975 to reserve a site and instructions for mailing your payment.  $40 for the weekend including the comedy show and Blessing!  Sorry single night camping is not available.  

Hitching poles will be available, vault toilet and hand pump in staging area.  Central fire pit for visiting, roasting marshmallows, kibitzing and enjoying music in the evenings and don’t forget the comedy show on Friday!  

We’ll be hosting a Swap & Sell Tack Sale on Sat. after the Blessing.  So, clean up your tack you want to swap or sell and bring it along with you.  We will also be inviting other vendors.  

Don’t miss a RIDE TO HELL after the Blessing for a beer and burger at the Hell Hole Diner or Hell Saloon.  And save room for Ice Cream at Screams!

A potluck dinner Saturday will start at 5:30 pm with PTRA providing the meat and soft drinks and water.  We’re planning a jam-packed weekend.

Pinckney to Brighton Ride!!

PTRA and BTRA invite you to join us

Lunch at Brighton at 1:30-3:30pm

$7 for members, $10 for non members

Grab your horse and meet us at the Pinckney Staging area for registration beginning at 10am and ending at 11am. Due to the popularity of this ride, please trailer pool to save parking space if you are able to.

After registration, you will tie your horse or hand them to a friend, drive your rig to the Brighton staging area and a shuttle driver will drive you back to Pinckney.

Jump in the saddle and you are off to enjoy the beautiful, varied trails of Pinckney Rec, Lakelands Trail and Brighton Rec.  

Lunch will be ready for you when you arrive at the Brighton Rec Monks Rd Staging area.

Make it a camping weekend at Brighton if you'd like to by reserving a site.

If you cannot ride, please volunteer, thank you!!

Due to the popularity of this ride, please trailer pool if you can.

You can join PTRA for the first time, renew your membership and get more information on the Pinckney Recreation Area Equestrian Trails.  The expo is always a great time!

Think Spring Fundraiser!

It's starting to feel like spring outside and our Think Spring fundraiser forms are here and ready for your flower orders. Orders are due April 1st and the flowers will arrive in May just before Mother's Day. This is a huge fundraiser for our group which allows us to keep the trail and staging area improvements coming. Meet a Horse Kid’s Day

This PTRA event is a really special day, it is all about bringing kids and horses together and this year it will be held at Heavenly Horse Stables right on the Pinckney trails!
